The Mead's Story
1 Family, 4 Shops, and 20 Years of History
Mead’s Bike Shop as founded in 2004. With only a few hundred dollars in our pockets, 3 months free rent from landlord, and a small line of credit from Trek Bicycle company we began a journey to build the best bike shop any city could have.
Mead's Evolves
In 2011, after seven years in business, we bought our first building expanding Mead’s Bike Shop into downtown Sterling.
Trek Peoria Joins the Family
In 2018, we bought our second location in Peoria: Trek Bicycle Peoria. Long time employee, Doug Carolus, manages the our Peoria location.
Welcome: Trek Rockford
In 2021, we purchased Rockford Bicycle Company and changed it’s name to Trek Bicycle Rockford.
General Manager, Matt Bartholomew, works hard to bring community value to the Rockford area.
Mead's Comes to Champaign
This year (2024) we purchased Champaign Cycles in Champaign, Illinois. We have since changed its name to Trek Bicycle Champaign. We're so excited to share cycling and the Mead's brand with the Champaign community.
